Welcome to the Hooniverse News! This is a weekly recap of some of the biggest stories in the automotive industry without the fluff or the bull. I also throw in a little opinion of mine, just because I can. This week: Life-Sized Tonka Truck is finally a reality
Several months ago, I got to report on the efforts to produce a life-sized Tonka truck customized by Galpin Auto Sports (GAS), Fab-Fours, Highway Products, Kelderman, and others. After many hours of work, GAS and Funrise Toys, the licensee and manufacturer of Tonka, unveiled the finished product that has been appropriately named the Tonka T-Rex, and it looks like this.
The Tonka T-Rex is based off a 2012 Ford F-250 with a Powerstroke diesel and will soon be released as an official toy (in a much smaller size) in Fall of 2014. In the meantime, the real Tonka T-Rex will be used as a marketing platform and a charity fundraiser slated to participate in various holiday toy drives, parades, and off-road events. Also, it will surely make a childās day when it rolls past, which is one of the many reasons why GAS and others involved were so passionate about this project.
To see when the Tonka T-Rex will be visiting your area, head on over to Tonkaās Facebook page for updates.
